Mans-eyesI will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. (Psalm 32:8, NASB)

You can tell a lot about a person by their eyes.

Especially what they look at.

And when.

When you sit at a lunch sales meeting with someone who keeps peering over your shoulder at passersby, what’s the message?

As you sit in Starbucks at a coffee meetup and the guy you team with stares at every beautiful woman that walks by, what’s the message?

When you look at your phone while your team leader talks, what’s the message you send?

You can tell a lot about a person by their eyes.

Especially what they look at.

And when.

David says God has the Divine Eye on you.

God pays attention to you.

That’s right, God cares enough about your work to watch you on the job.

What’s the message God sends as He keeps his Eye on you at work?

God’s Eye is on you for Consultation.

Whenever I consult, or hire a consultant, I’m after some instruction in best practices. I want to know what others have learned so I avoid the novice mistakes and accelerate my work quicker.

God’s Eye is on you for instruction. To help you discover the best practices that working in God’s plan provides.

I imagine God’s eye on my work each morning. I ask God to keep an Eye on me, to insure I stay on track. Sometimes God has to cut the Eye at me because I veer off; catching my eye with His Eye and shifting the Divine Eye in the other direction so I figure out which way to go.

God’s Eye is on you for Correction.

Sometimes I ignore the Divine Eye shift, say, “I got this,” and go off on my well-intended and misguided self-chosen path of destruction.

I wind up sideways every time.

You do, too.

That’s when God’s eye is on us for correction.

That’s when it’s time to dance the Dr. Joey 2-step like a star as God watches:

Step 1: Grab the handle. Learn the lesson. What is God teaching you in this sideways experiment?

Step 2: Flush! Flush the feelings of failure, the negative self-doubt, and anything else counterproductive.

Yes, you make mistakes at work. Just make new ones…faster with God’s help.

God’s Eye is on you for your correction.

God’s Eye is on you for Counsel.

So as you prepare and plan, know that God’s Eye is on you for that as well. Think of counsel as wisdom applied to strategy which determines tactics in your work.

What are God’s goals for your work? Where is it this God of the universe who can do anything and for whom all things are possible wants to take your business?

Ask for and receive God’s counsel.

Know that God’s Eye is on you. You have God’s full attention.

No wandering eyes for passersby, beautiful women, or phones.

Just you.

Work with God’s Eye on you and increase your faith with greater joy at work so you love God and others more.
