And the special gift of ministry you received when I laid hands on you and prayed – keep that ablaze! God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible (2 Timothy 1:6-7, MSG)
I love to ask people what God has called them to do.
They usually respond by telling me what they do at work. And certainly, God provides that.
Others say they are too busy with their work and personal lives to follow God’s call.
I worked in the insurance industry for 34 years, but I was not created to sell insurance. Selling insurance gave me the opportunity to share with others my special gift of ministry.
God created all of us to work in service to each other in this world and yet not of this world. The Creator of the cosmos ordained you with special, individual gifts to animate your work.
Perhaps you’re called to pray. God strategically places people near you at work who need prayer.
Maybe you are a healer, ministering with those who suffer the pains of life, or grieve a loss.
God may prosper you financially to help those less fortunate.
Discover your special gift for ministry. Then let nothing get in the way.
I was way too busy years ago to follow God’s call in my life. After all, I was a busy husband, father, church member and belonged to several civic groups.
I kept reminding God that one day, when things settled down, I would write, speak and help people walk in faith. I was way too busy to even begin until then.
All the busyness exhausted me. I prayed and God kept prompting me. I listened and slowly began to get rid of all the “stuff” I kept myself busy with; things he never asked me to do in the first place.
My exhaustion slipped away. I gained new strength, followed his direction, and was led by the Spirit to where I am today—writing this blog for you.
The stuff of life you accumulate that keeps you busy will get in the way of God’s calling for you, just like it did for me.
You are equipped by the Spirit for “a special gift of ministry.”
Find out what it is. Follow that call.
Be bold with it.
Work Faith Positive and increase your faith with greater joy at work so you love God and others more.
