“I could have done as well as Sammy, if I had just seen what he did,” my client said.
We chatted about his work choices and how he wished for better outcomes.
“Really? What did Sammy see?” I asked.
“Well, he’s doing really well in commercial real estate so he must have seen something I didn’t,” he said, “although I remember giving him some really good advice about some property…” and he went on to detail his shared wisdom.
“So you saw it, too,” I said, “but Sammy saw it better than you?”
“I guess I did see it, too,” he said. “I guess I just didn’t have the faith that it would all work out.”
“Faith is believing in what you can’t see,” I said, “and then trusting God enough to work out the details.”
“So I could have been as successful as Sammy if I trusted God more,” he said.
“Well, I don’t know if you would have been as successful as Sammy in commercial real estate,” I told him, “and yet success requires you to do two things: believe in what you can’t see and act in faith.”
And it does, you know.
Every time any enterprise I’ve been blessed to be a part of starts growing—every time—it was because we believed in God enough to ask for what we couldn’t see. Just knew that God’s vision and goals for the organization were better than ours and prayed for Him to reveal it to us.
Then we acted in faith. We picked up the phone and called somebody God put in our path. Most of the time someone we didn’t even know…yet. We asked questions like, “So tell me about yourself” and “What’s God doing in your work and life right now?” And we listened…believing in what we couldn’t see yet. Acting in faith.
